The Wii fit
Posted by foo | Filed under Uncategorized
Introduced a Wii Fit into the household on Monday. I never thought I would end up enjoying actually getting up off my behind and moving. Due to having a squishy carpet under it the first day, I deleted everything and started over when my weight increased by 8 lbs after the removal of the carpet. So my saga starts with loosing about 30 min of WiiFit time as I started back at Day 1 on Tuesday night.
It?s now ?Day 3? for me and I?ve put in 1hr+ of time with it, which isn?t to bad considering my own other exercise time was on the treadmill. Day 2 (yesterday) warranted a 20 min walk on the tread along with the Wii. To me this is a good start!!!

Lensbaby

As I had said I adopted the lensbaby (as for wether it is long or short term has yet to be decided). Anyway of all the LB pictures I took the one that I am the happiest with is:

We were at National Cemetery in Chattanooga and saw this as an opportunity to try my best or worse. Three shots later this is what I was rewarded with.
I’ll get better shooting with the lens overtime I am sure. Just a matter of time!

BBQ - once again on the subject of food
Posted by admin | Filed under Travel
We did in fact hit two BBQ places while in TN. One was Famous Dave’s. Good food of course but it is a national chain after all which makes it relatively nondescript in that sense.
What I am posting here about right now is Rib & Loin. Talk about some GOOD BBQ. I’ve never tasted anything like it and unless you end up finding a small hole in the wall place or a well established local pit BBQ in your area that you can call your very own, you just aren’t going to find it better then this.
Rib & Loin has two locations. The one that we frequent is the one located on Brainerd Road right across from the airport. There are rumors (and I wouldn’t doubt it) that celebs (or their gophers) make stops at the airport and putter across the street for the good stuff.
Their rib platter w/ three sides (mine were fried okra, green beans and mac&cheese)+ aslice of texas toast.
YumYum!
As some of you may know….

In Oct of 2008 we become the proud owners of a 4-door Wrangler Sahara. Of course we did spruce it up a bit by getting some graphics work done on the side. Formula One Tint and Graphics did this. When I get their link I will post it.
But anyway - onto Jeeps. We came across this in TN.
Which did in fact make the dark red four door Wrangler sitting across the street with a crazy woman hanging out the window trying to take a picture across a state highway relatively ordinary!

The Riverside Catfish House
Posted by admin | Filed under Travel
Fried catfish is king in the south, and being close to the Chattanooga River a meal of ‘channel cat’ down here reigns supreme to all other meals (save BBQ). On Friday night, we made our way to The Riverside Catfish House. At one point this was a cash only place. After speaking with the woman behind the register we found out that they started taking plastic about 4 yrs ago. Gives an idea of how long it has been since we’ve stepped foot in the place.
During the winter months, they have limited hours. If you can’t make it there after 4pm on a Friday night or 2pm on a Saturday or Sunday then “No Catfish for You”. Summer hours start up after Memorial Day, but they weren’t posted anywhere yet so I can’t pass them on.
The interesting thing about the place is that you can get your standard catfish meal (either fillets or fingerlings) with a platter OR an ‘all you can eat’ option. The cost between the two is $3-$4 dollars and I recommend that if you are aiming for the all you can eat deal, don’t eat anything else before heading there.
The “new” D40
Posted by admin | Filed under Photography, Travel
I purchased David a birthday present but it had alterior motives. He ended up with the new Nikon D60 (DSLR) so since the D40 was less then a year old, I have now undertaken the art / science of photography. I can say that after only playing with a point and shoot (or a really powerful camera set on auto mode) shooting with a DLSR is amazing. So much to learn!
After a few short trips to the book store, we have quite a collection of photography magazines and photography books.
Between the two cameras (a Casio Exilm and the Nikon D40) I have fallen in love with the Nikon. Until today I was shooting with the lens that the camera came with (18-55mm). During a walk around the yard down here in Chattanooga, I started shooting with a G1 Lensbaby. The affect is amazingly artistic. A gallery will be posted for multiple shots that have been taken.
Update: More pictures to come using the Lensbaby. Used it to take some pictures of Chattanooga National Cemetary.

Road trip!!!
Posted by admin | Filed under Travel
Trip was made late in the day to Raccoon Mountain. Pictures to come on this trip, but being that we traveled there so late in the day, we will be going back. The upper reaches of the park close at 7:30 CT (that’s right - we made it to the Central timezone), which didn’t leave much time for photographing some of the most beautiful nature spots I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing around Chattanooga.
Oh and btw, new toy! David got a Nikon D60 for his Birthday, so using my keen sense of justifying the purchase to begin with, I now have a Nikon D40 all my own!
I’m experimenting with HDR which should prove interesting enough, but I have quickly realized that a tripod is necessary. Being that we are both investing in the Nikon cameras, it is safe to say that our camera ‘kit’ is going to grow rather quickly.
While none of my images are posted here, this is a sampling of what HDR can do: HDR Flikr Pool.

Buffalo Wild Wings

While the fare is available in our neck of the woods (the one on Rt 40 isn’t all THAT far from the homestead) was decided to stop at the one in North Gate Mall. Reason for this is it;s one of the few places offering free wifi access (all while snacking on buffalo chicken). One lesson learned, if you’ve been away for it for awhile DON’T start off with mango habenero!
